Sun & Stuff

House MD was a repeat but I watched it anyway. Actually, I sort of watched it as I put the bulk of my brain power into besting my score on Bejeweled. I play it through my Facebook, and because I'm competitive (noted in a previous entry), I *hate* it when other people in my FB "Network" get better scores than me! In fact, I actually sent a private note to one of the "higher score" people accusing them of running a "crack" to achieve their outrageously impossible score. (A crack is something created by a hacker to circumvent game rules and enable you to win BIG...they can also be riddled with viruses and totally mess up your computer).

Today is Thursday, and it's shaping up to be a lovely day. The sun is shining full bore and it's already 52 degrees at 10 in the morning! The Good Voice in my head is already urging me to get out and take a walk...maybe even an hour (or two) jaunt along Dallas Road. (I lean toward Dallas Road because at the end of the hike I can find myself at the Ogden Point Cafe...home of the most delicious homemade bread pudding in the whole world). The Bad Voice in my head is quick to counterpoint by reminding me that it's really no fun to walk alone (that is true) and a day like this could be better spent refilling the cookie jar (also true), and maybe finishing up my current cross stitch project, "First Snow" by The Drawn Thread. It's a very pretty piece and I am really close to adding the last few stitches and sewing on the totally adorable bird buttons I got to go with it (if you check out the pattern, you'll understand about the buttons...I opted for them rather than stitched birds. I'm crazy about cool buttons!).

I *love* to stitch...cross stitch that is! Over the years I have also dabbled in needlepoint, crewel, embroidery, quilting, candlewicking, and cut work. Invariably, however, I always come home to cross stitching. I have tons of patterns and materials. Some women collect shoes...or purses...or kitchen gadgets (or men). Not me! I'm all about linen, perforated paper, pattern books, floss, silk, buttons...and just about anything else that I think I need to make me a better stitcher. I'm pretty lucky that my husband humors me in this particular passion and is even very supportive of all my ongoing projects. He's actually done a bit of stitching himself and he never complains when I am off on a "cross stitch binge"...leaving behind any thoughts of dinner, the house, or my personal appearance. I suspect it is a true measure of his love for me that he can still come over and kiss me gently on the cheek while I sit hunched over the table...my MagEyes glued to my forehead and my skin tinted green from my DayGlo light. (I just finished the design in the picture...still have the other 3 seasons to go in that series.)

Okay...so that's enough for today! I need more coffee...I need to get dressed...I need to start some laundry...I need to ____...I need to ____....and I need to ____.
Hmmm...I think I'll watch Julie & Julia and do a little stitching instead!
